We ask Harrods’ Emma Coleman for her 2016 licensed brand highlights.
The Harry Potter brand is among the top sellers at Harrods, after the awareness around Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and The Cursed Child helped give it a boost.
Emma Coleman – the retailer’s assistant buyer for toys – also highlighted Ghostbusters, LEGO and Shopkins as brands which have performed well when The Source caught up with her at the Licensing Awards product judging.
Emma commented: “Harry Potter has really started to come through again for us – there’s an area in-store and we try to make it a bit of an experience for shoppers.
“Dress-up has also been making a comeback for girls. We had a Ghostbusters pop-up in-store, including the LEGO lines, and we had a massive drive on Finding Dory.
“Shopkins is still doing incredibly well and we’ve just had series two of Num Noms. PAW Patrol is still massive and Blaze and the Monster Machines is starting to pick up. I will be interested to see more of DC Super Hero Girls, too.
“High-end collectable plush always does well for us and then, of course, there’s Star Wars.”
