International attendee boost for Licensing Expo

New-look Licensing Week attracted over 16,000 industry execs to Las Vegas last month.

Last month’s Licensing Expo – and the new-look Licensing Week – attracted a bigger number of attendees from territories including South Korea and Japan, UBM has this morning confirmed.

The boost in international attendees helped the show reach over 16,000 attendees in total, with UBM saying it was one of the most successful to date.

In addition, Licensing Expo 2018 has already hit an 84% rebook rate.

The Matchmaking service also continued to grow, with more than 3,800 meetings scheduled, an increase of more than 1,200 meetings from 2016.

Jessica Blue, svp licensing at UBM, commented: “Licensing Expo 2017 saw substantial international attendee growth, including an 87% increase in attendees from South Korea and a 23% increase in attendees from Japan.

“Several product categories also saw an increase in growth this year, including video games which experienced a 46% increase, followed by TV, video, filming and streaming, with a 45% increase.”

The focus for UBM now turns to China, with the inaugural Licensing Expo China taking place from July 18-20, and then Brand Licensing Europe, which returns to London’s Olympia from October 10-12.

Licensing Expo 2018 will take place from May 22-24.
