Sainsbury’s teams with LEGO for trading card promo

Retailer giving away millions of exclusive Create the World mini figure collector trading cards.

Sainsbury’s has revealed its latest brand-led promotion, teaming with The LEGO Group for a major collectable trading card event.

Running until June 13, for the first time ever, the retailer will be giving away millions of exclusive LEGO Create the World mini figure collector trading cards.

The cards can be collected for free when consumers shop at Sainsbury’s – spend £10 in supermarkets or online and shoppers will earn one pack of four cards. Spend £5 and one pack of two cards will be earned.

There are 140 cards to collect, including 104 minifigure characters and 36 special ‘Create’ cards.

To help fans complete their collection, Sainsbury’s will also be selling a collectors album (£2), as well as booster packs for 50 pence.

Two minifigure characters – Lily and Sam – have been specially developed for the promotion and are being used across the retailer’s marketing.

The tie-up is being heavily promoted in stores and online.
