adidas grows Stan Smith, Forever green range with Disney tie-up

The collection features unique Stan Smith updates inspired by Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel characters, with Kermit the latest introduction.

adidas Originals has launched the next chapter of its green Stan Smith, Forever initiative with Disney.

Stan Smith, Forever was announced by the company earlier this year and represents an approach to sustainable design, signalling a new era for the classic silhouette.

The partnership with Disney features exclusive more sustainable takes on the Stan Smith silhouette inspired by a number of Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel’s iconic characters.

These include Marvel’s the Hulk, Rex from Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story, Yoda from the Star Wars galaxy, Tinker Bell from Peter Pan, WALL-E from Disney and Pixar’s WALL-E, Kermit the Frog of The Muppets and Mike Wazowski from Disney and Pixar’s Monsters, Inc.

Each pair in the collection features unique details and references to the characters, such as graphic outsoles, embossed details, bold graphics, playful prints and additional lace options. All pairs are composed of PRIMEGREEN uppers – a series of high performance recycled materials – and sat atop recycled rubber outsoles.

The newest addition to the range is Kermit the Frog, with the silhouette’s typical three stripes being switched out for a perforated ‘K’. The trainer is also brought to life with Kermit’s name embossed on the heel and his portrait printed on the left tongue, as well as co-branded sock liners, additional green laces and the phase ‘It’s Easy Being Green’ embossed across both heel tabs.

Kermit is also involved in the marketing campaign for Stan Smith, Forever. It sees Kermit team up with Stan Smith himself, plus skaters Na-Kel Smith and Nora Vasconcellos, digital architect Iddris Sandu and actress Yara Shahidi for a multi-media campaign which serves as adidas Originals’ manifesto in the journey to help End Plastic Waste.
