CBBC hours to extend from April 11

BBC’s children’s channel set to run until 9pm every night.

CBBC is due to extend its broadcast hours until 9pm from Monday April 11.

The long awaited move is now possible following the closure of BBC Three’s linear promo channel, according to a516 Digital.

CBBC had been sharing its bandwidth with BBC Three between 7pm and 5.30am. It will now take two hours extra time following the channel’s move online.

a516 Digital reports that preliminary schedules for CBBC show that programmes including Horrible Histories have been placed into the new time slot.

CITV extended its broadcast hours to 9pm back in February, meaning it runs for 15 hours a day.

CBBC recently revealed its first makeover in nine years, with the new look allowing it to work better in the constantly shifting media landscape.
