eOne increases ownership of Peppa Pig

52 new episodes now being produced after eOne takes controlling stake.

Entertainment One has increased its ownership of Peppa Pig, taking a controlling stake in the property.

As part of the deal, creators Astley Baker Davies will be producing an additional 52 episodes. There are currently over 200 episodes of the award winning preschool show, which have been broadcast in more than 180 territories. Its international brand presence includes over 700 licensing deals which generate over $1 billion in retail sales per year.

Peppa Pig has been co-owned and distributed globally by eOne since 2007.

“Peppa Pig has emerged as a worldwide phenomenon and reflects the success of our ten-year partnership working with the creative genius of Mark [Baker], Nev [Astley] and Phil [Davies],” said Darren Throop, president and CEO of Entertainment One. “Now the number one preschool property in the UK, Australia, Spain, Italy, Mexico and Brazil, and a leader in major territories around the world, the growth opportunities for Peppa are significant.”

Darren continued: “As we continue to expand in the US, Asia and throughout our existing markets, we are excited to enter into new markets and take Peppa to new heights.”
