Fanattik adds Yu-Gi-Oh to portfolio

Licensee to create line of gifts and collectables for anime brand for European market.

Gift and collectables specialist Fanattik has secured a deal for anime brand Yu-Gi-Oh to create a range of products for the European market.

Yu-Gi-Oh – which has almost 20 years of history of engaging audiences outside of Asia – has a TV series with over 850 episodes, three feature films, consumer products, a mobile game and a trading card game.

Fanattik has said it will take an holistic approach to the licence, working with chosen retailers on exclusive product as well as hand in hand with trading card game tournament organisers in both the UK and Europe.

The company will be supporting the vibrant independent trades where Yu-Gi-Oh thrives, as well as all levels of European retail from online and mail order to the high street with a wide spectrum of retail price points and limited edition pieces.

Product will be available in market for Q4 2019 with a range containing jewellery, keyrings, pin badges, coins and more.

“Yu-Gi-Oh! is a brand with a passionate fan base,” said chief Fanattik Anthony Marks. “In order to create products that would be appealing, we knew we needed to consult with every level of Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom.

“We met with legions of Yu-Gi-Oh! players, organisers and judges, all of whom have a genuine love for the brand.  Their input will help to ensure that we get the products right.”

Jennifer Coleman, vp of licensing and marketing at Konami Cross Media NY, added: “With Fanattik on board, we are very excited to be able to offer a wide range of unique gift collectables to the European market.

“We believe our fans will be impressed with the line-up of products FaNaTtiK will launch later this year. Their passion and understanding of the Yu-Gi-Oh! brand shines through in what they created.”
