Golden Bear strengthens its team

“The business is continuing to build on last year’s growth and I’m keen to ensure we have the very best talent at every level” says md Barry Hughes.

As it looks to further build on the growth it enjoyed last year, toy company Golden Bear has made a number of staff changes.

As the company prepares to wave farewell to sales director Julie Taylor – who is moving to a new position elsewhere after more than 20 years – Becky Matthews will take up the newly created role of UK sales and marketing director.

Becky (pictured above left) has been senior national account manager in the business and combines that with heading up the internal digital marketing team. She also leads the team that successfully delivered Golden Bear’s virtual Toy Fair platform.

Becky steps into her new role formally from 1 October, after working alongside Julie to hand over before her departure at the end of September.  Becky will be ably supported by longstanding senior national account manager, Michelle Fox to service the main national accounts.

Another change on the sales side will see Claire Vernon and her international sales team reporting directly to md, Barry Hughes, reflecting the continued growth of that side of the business.

Meanwhile, Rebecca Henchey (pictured above right) is being promoted to product and innovation director, after joining the company last year as senior creative development manager.

Golden Bear is also currently recruiting for a senior brand manager, marketing manager and an EMEA account manager among other roles.

“Julie has been a very valued member of the Golden Bear team for more than 20 years; I thank her for her unrelenting hard work and we all wish her the very best in her new role,” began Barry Hughes, md of Golden Bear. “I’m delighted to see Becky step up to her new position as UK sales and marketing director, after an incredibly impressive career with us so far.

“And it’s exciting to see Becs also develop even further within our company, after a year that’s seen her impress the team with her creative, product development and commercial acumen.”

Barry continued: “The business is continuing to build on last year’s growth and I’m keen to ensure we have the very best talent at every level. We’re evolving the team with new positions which are currently being advertised, and I look forward to welcoming yet more expertise into Golden Bear, to help drive our success both in the UK and internationally even further.”
