IFLScience licensing drive steps up a gear

Licensing Link Europe on board to build brand in UK & Europe; major publishing deal signed in the US.

IFLScience is looking to turn its licensing programme up a notch – appointing an agent to handle the brand in the UK and Europe and also making in-roads in the US market.

Licensing Link Europe has been appointed to help grow the IFLScience licensing footprint in the UK and European markets. The agency will be helping to take the brand from the online digital space to physical stores and live mini events.

“We are delighted to be appointed the UK licensing agent for IFLScience and look forward to building the brand with licensees, retailers and brand partners,” said Ian Wickham, director of Licensing Link Europe. “IFLScience is exceptionally well known for making science relevant and fun for today’s digital consumer. Their Facebook page will provide a tremendous opportunity for our licensing partners to reach the consumer base.

“We look forward to speaking with everyone at BLE about our plans across key categories including publishing, apparel, gift and bringing the brand alive in the experiential area with cool live events.”

Michele Kuprewicz, head of retail and licensing at IFLScience, added: “Licensing Link Europe instantly understood the brand, they have been following us since we first launched in 2012 so they knew what we were about and how to translate the brand into the real world.

“They brought out-of-the-box ideas to the table which is what attracted me to sign with them. We are very excited to have them on board.”

Meanwhile, US agent One Entertainment has secured a deal with Running Press, which will publish the first ever IFLScience book, plus a planner and mini kit book and gift set.

The book – titled 101 Things You Should F**king Know About the World – will pull from the top stories from IFLScience.com, staying true to the offbeat tone and wit.

“We are thrilled to partner with IFLScience on an exciting new publishing programme,” commented Cindy De La Hoz, senior editor at Running Press. “We are confident that IFLScience’s dedication to promoting science with an irreverent point-of-view paired our beautifully designed books and innovative mini kits will find a huge audience of fans eager to be entertained as well as inspired and informed.”

The products will be available on a worldwide distribution with a focus on North America, UK and Australia and will be launching into market October/November 2019.

Earlier on in the year, IFLScience also signed a poster licence with Art.com.
