ABOUT THE ROLE

After a period of exceptional growth leading up to and through our 50th anniversary year, there has been an opportunity to restructure the business to create a new Lifestyle & Consumer Goods Division within Smiley. Sitting alongside the Fashion Division, the Lifestyle & Consumer Goods Division will be divided into two teams covering complementary categories ensuring that there is a cohesion of strategy, design and vision as we continue to create best in class products and activations across the world.

As part of this new structure, we are looking for a Category Manager who ideally speaks Italian, French or Spanish to be a key member of the team covering FMCG, Promotions, Toys and Publishing working on product and business development.  Ideal for a proactive, adaptable individual who can juggle a busy workload, multitask and who has a passion for product development.

 

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

  • Liaising closely with our partners to develop strategies enabling business growth
  • Commercial awareness of market trends and the competition
  • Critical path tracking progression from contract to design to launch
  • Renewal negotiation
  • Product approvals
  • Conduct regular competitor and market research: attend trade shows, store checks and online research, which can be used by the department to inform strategy and product development
  • Conduct new partner Brand Inductions
  • Collate weekly business update to circulate to the wider teams
  • Liaise with Marketing department and other teams including Legal, Finance & other Category Teams
  • Track sell-in and sell-through information from licensees
  • Share success stories with partners to encourage growth

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ideal candidate will have Buying related studies
  • At least 5 years’ experience in licensing & product development
  • An interest in the retail industry, product development and brand licensing
  • A self-starter with good organisational and time management skills aiding the ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • A proactive, creative thinker who stays one step ahead
  • Good people skills and the ability to communicate with partners in a wide variety of countries with clarity and precision
  • Good presentation and written skills
  • Energetic, savvy and able to work in a fast-paced environment
