Games Workshop has been creating compelling fantasy and science fiction intellectual property for over 35 years. Our core brand Warhammer is now a household name across the globe and we have an army of passionate and engaged fans. Delivering world class licensed products across multiple product categories creates complex and exciting challenges for the Games Workshop Licensing Creative team.
That’s where you come in!
We need a graphic designer who wants to help our partners make licensed products of the highest quality which will excite our loyal fans. These products need to work well in their markets, but also feel authentic to whichever distinctive Warhammer IP they are based on.
You will report to the Licensing Creative Studio Manager and create high quality tools like style guides and branding handbooks to help our licensees make great products that are faithful to the Warhammer brands. You will also carry out production work to design our booths at licensing shows, and help us to create ranges of merchandise and apparel which are constantly innovative and fresh, but also on-brand. You will provide valuable design insight and undertake trend analysis to ensure our products are appealing to whatever market they are going into, and give and receive constructive and critical design feedback.
What makes this job hard is juggling lots of projects, relationships, and pressures whilst working independently using self-direction and self organisation to prioritise work. You’ll need to be flexible in your planning and artistic style while communicating successfully with people from all over the globe.
- Producing high quality graphic design solutions to product design, marketing and sales challenges.
- Providing valuable design insight into current popular styles, trends and aesthetics, especially in entertainment and ‘geek’ industries.
- Working with existing brands with established values, but being able to consistently and constantly present new, fresh interpretations of them.
- Giving and receiving constructive critical feedback and being highly articulate when doing so.
- Flexing your graphic design style to successfully meet market needs or the needs of the product.
You will have a strong desire to stay on top of Games Workshop’s evolving IP and possess a love of geek culture in general.
We know this will be a challenging and exciting role for the right individual who has excellent aesthetic judgement, great communication skills and is a proficient production designer.
