Job Overview

Carte Blanche has developed an award-winning global brand licensing programme across its core character and lifestyle brands, including the much loved “Me to You” brand which features Tatty Teddy as its cornerstone. This newly created role supports our growth plan to extend brand reach even further and maximise licensed revenues. Joining our expanding Licensing team, your aim will be to drive new business for our core properties, with a key focus on bolstering our existing business in line with the annual departmental budget, with each brand’s creative & commercial strategy in mind. New business deals will be uncovered and negotiated end-to-end by this candidate, with the account then being handed to a fellow member of the Licensing team to support and manage on a day-to-day basis

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • New Business and Category Development – to identify new partners across key target areas, converting leads and closing deals. You’ll assist in identifying category gaps across the Carte Blanche licensing portfolio, with an aim to securing the best-in-class partners in these areas to maximise brand presence and reach. Ability to complete data analysis to support decisions on opportunities for growth and gaps in current offering, whilst maintaining awareness of competition
  • UK Retail Accounts – to own and manage new retailer relationships with a focus on the new categories signed, acting as initial key point of contact for new retail accounts being pursued. Seek out potential new DTR agreements suitable to the brand strategy
  • Sales Revenues – to be the owner of the licensed revenue coming into the team for new business, and to be clear on where the opportunities and challenges are for the business in this area
  • Team Collaboration – Working with the rest of the Licensing team to expand current licensee list, using retail updates and product performance from Sales team to establish new opportunities for additional product ranges. Coordinated promotions and offers identified with Marketing, as well as collaboration with our Creative team to ensure new business needs are met through our assets

 

Qualifications, skills, experience, knowledge

  • An established Licensing professional with a growth mindset, can-do approach to our brands and the ability to seek out and actively pursue new opportunities within your existing networks as well as with new businesses emerging within the market.
  • Confident when building key commercial relationships with licensees and partners. You’ll keep your finger on the pulse and stay up to date with the total market, our competitors and the changing retail landscape.
  • A strong and proven background in licensing of consumer products and brands for retail sales, with strong client relationship management
  • Track record of developing new business within the licensing arena across multiple product categories, ensuring we meet the needs of each new potential account
  • Ability to demonstrate creative flair, with the ability to identify trends and apply ideas to new product development
  • Proven ability to manage a high workload and multiple priorities whilst meeting deadlines
  • Can relay commercial information to team members and the wider business in an accessible and clear way
  • Significant interpersonal and consultative skills, including the ability to communicate, present, negotiate and build strong relationships with all stakeholders
  • Clear and concise written, verbal, and presentation skills- you’ll be able to lead on presentations across your new business focus areas
  • The ability to use MS Office and other relevant IT systems as appropriate for the role
  • Be a strong ambassador for our brands, and a stellar representation of the company externally
  • Applicants should be educated to degree level or equivalent with substantial experience in contract

    negotiation, brand and budget management
