Acamar Films, a London based Independent Production company are looking for a Softlines Manager to join the team. Co-founded in 2005 by CEO Mikael Shields, Acamar Films exists to develop and produce creative projects which move and delight audiences worldwide. Acamar’s ongoing focus for 2018 is Bing – the award-winning, smash-hit, international animated pre-school series launched on Cbeebies in June 2014. Already nominated for a BAFTA, Bing won the Writer’s Guild of Great Britain Award for Best Children’s Television Episode in 2014, and the International Emmy Award in the Kids: Pre-school Category. Bing has most recently been shortlisted for Best Pre-School Licensed Property at the Licensing Awards, Best Toy, Toilet Train Bing at the Made for Mums Toy Awards and Best Pre-school Reading Range at the Progressive Pre-School Awards.

Now is an exceptionally exciting time to join the company as we expand. We are looking for a Softlines Manager with passion, drive and reputable licensing and retail relationships, to lead the Consumer Products programme for the hit preschool entertainment show, Bing, across Apparel & Accessories, Travel and Home.



  • Responsibility for assigned annual budget. Driving annual revenue directly across all Softlines in the UK across Apparel, Accessories, Travel and Home
  • Forecasting softlines category on a quarterly basis, working with the Senior Licensing Manager
  • Tracking royalties each quarter and working closely with the Finance Team
  • Negotiating direct to retail deals from the UK, working with the Director of Licensing and Merchandising and Senior Licensing Manager
  • Creating, reviewing and updating a gap analysis strategy for all soft line product categories every quarter and seeking out new business
  • Pitching to retail buyers on a monthly basis to support licensees and open up new business and channels of distribution
  • Developing and growing existing business with key licensed partners
  • Identifying and delivering halo collaborations working closely with marketing, digital and product development teams
  • Working closely with the Product Development Director and design team to brief in any concepts or direction required for retail or licensee pitches
  • Quarterly meetings with key licensees to review sales, retail and product development
  • Working with the Content and Marketing teams to alert them of key retail launches and ways to drive retail support
  • Tracking all retail listings for soft lines launches
  • Quarterly store visits to record product in store and identify competitive set, with full report for the CP team
  • Brainstorming with the Product Development team to identify new sub categories and artwork directions to support licensees and retailers
  • Fashion and Home trade show attendance throughout the year as appropriate
  • Communicating any key updates to the Commercial teams
  • Becoming the key point of contact / expert within the organisation for Softline opportunities across all markets



  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a UK Licensing role, working in the entertainment, toy or fashion sector and / or a minimum 5 years’ experience in retail buying in the Softlines sector
  • Strong track record of building successful softlines programmes within retail
  • Strategic thinker, able to communicate Bing Softlines vision
  • Strong business and budget acumen
  • Self-motivator, able to prioritise and set deadlines
  • Strong retail relationships
  • Positive, creative and proactive in approach
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and capable of rolling up sleeves when required
  • Understanding of monetising processes and lead times
  • Understanding of retail buying cycle
  • Able to demonstrate good sales and negotiation skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with ability to multi-task in a busy environment
  • Computer literate with good Microsoft Office skills and knowledge of Apple Mac is ideal
  • Team player – builds relationships at all levels
