LEGO unveils Christmas builds around the UK

LEGO Santa Express rolls into Covent Garden, while his sleigh heads to Liverpool.

LEGO has revealed two Christmas builds this year – the traditional annual structure in London’s Covent Garden, plus one at Liverpool ONE.

Dubbed The LEGO Santa Express, the train in Covent Garden has been created from 500,000 bricks and includes special effects such as sounds and lights, while smoke comes from the funnel.

The three carriages include an engine and driver’s cabin, with another filled with Christmas presents and the third with a Christmas tree.

2015 marks the fifth year that LEGO has showcased a Christmas-inspired creation in Covent Garden. Previous pieces have included a 30-metre LEGO Christmas tree, a giant advent calendar and a walk-through snow globe.

Meanwhile, last year’s creation – a giant sleigh complete with Santa and his reindeers – has taken up residence at Liverpool ONE. The structure is made out of 700,000 bricks and took the team 32 days to build.

It will remain in place until December 30.
