Mothercare’s Barbara Robinson and Rockpool’s Vickie O’Malley talk about why the event is so important.
Several well-known faces from licensing made sure that the industry was in the spotlight at this week’s London Book Fair, with Mothercare’s Barbara Robinson also taking part in the conference strand for the first time.
The organisers have created a series of videos (which are available to view on YouTube), talking to a number of attendees and speakers from this week’s fair.
Vickie O’Malley, md of Rockpool Licensing, is featured alongside a number of famous authors in one video, talking about why the show is so important for her.
Vickie said: “It’s great for meeting people and talking about business, but there is also a lot of innovation that goes on within the fair.”
Meanwhile, head of licensing and character at Mothercare, Barbara Robinson was at the London Book Fair for the first time, having been invited by the Children’s Media Conference to sit on a special panel as part of the children’s strand on Thursday (April 14).
She said: “I was invited to talk about how we bring products to life in stores, and I was giving insight into the decisions we make and the kind of things we think about when we’re ranging product.”
Barbara also spoke about the gender neutral issue and how retailers can react to that.
Next year’s London Book Fair is set move from its traditional April slot. The 2017 show will be held at Olympia from March 14-16.
