Finnish public broadcaster Yle to air first two seasons of new show from Gutsy Animations.
The first broadcaster has come on board to support the highly anticipated new Moomin animation.
Finnish public broadcaster Yle will air the first two seasons of the show, which is currently being developed by Gutsy Animations.
Yle also has an option for the following two seasons.
According to the preliminary plan, the animation will be seen during prime time on Yle in spring 2019. The plans include the production of a total of 52 episodes. Yle will be broadcasting the Moomin series in both Finnish and Swedish.
The Source reported earlier this month how Gutsy Animations was looking to raise $200,000 via an IndieGoGo campaign to help fund the development of the show.
Marika Makaroff, ceo of Gutsy Media, commented: “We couldn’t be happier that Yle is the first broadcaster to have bought Moomin.
“As a Finnish/British collaboration we believe that Moomin has an international appeal – particularly in a world where Tove’s philosophy of friendship, tolerance, and personal courage is more important than ever – and this has been proved true by our IndieGoGo campaign which has been supported by backers all over the globe.”
