News extra: More licensing news from this week

Including Topps UK unveiling its sticker and trading card game collections for Trolls: World Tour.

Source rounds up more news from the licensing industry across the globe from the week.

Topps UK has launched its new Trolls: World Tour Trading Card and Sticker collections to tie in with the release of the Universal movie sequel. The range features all new characters from the film, with the trading card collection split across four categories: Movie Time cards, Fun Fuzzy cards, Super Shiny cards and Puzzle cards. There are over 176 cards to collect. Meanwhile, there are 167 stickers to collect included most wanted large foil shinies and 45 tactile fuzzy stickers. With the country on lockdown, Topps UK implemented an online influencer plan, gifting the film to various influencers across the UK, enabling them to watch the movie safely at home and get ‘stuck in’ with the sticker and TC collections. Influencers and their families then shared their sticker packet and TC game opening experiences during an hour-long Twitter party, which trended across the social media platform with 1.7m opportunities to see.

Boat Rocker Studios has secured Scholastic as the master publishing partner for English language territories for upcoming preschool animation, Dino Ranch. The worldwide deal grants Scholastic the rights to design and produce a wide range of English language formats including readers, sticker story books, novelty, activity books and audio books, with products due to launch in autumn 2021.

Friendly Family Productions and Spotlight Licensing and Brand Management have welcomed Cubles into the licensing fold as the newest partner for the Little House on the Prairie brand. The company will create Cubles paper toys inspired by the brand’s characters and stories of her American prioneer family.

European children’s and family entertainment company, Planeta Junior is making over 20 animated series for children available for all ages and all tastes on YouTube, to help lighten the lockdown for families. The company has produced over 350 hours’ audiovisual content. Children will be able to follow the adventures of the Gormiti warriors, have fun with Pucca, sing along with Baby Heidi, as well as watch the likes of Maya the Bee, Marco and Heidi.

European kids entertainment studio, TeamTo has appointed Clélia Santi as head of production and Judith Bruneau as line producer and talent scout. The new positions come amid a strong 2020 slate, which the company says remains unabated during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hoho Rights, the commercial arm of kids’ production company Hoho Entertainment, has secured a partnership with leading Chinese VOD platform Tencent to broadcast animated preschool series, Chickpea and Friends. The deal was negotiated by The Media Pioneers, Hoho’s exclusive Chinese distribution partner for the series.
