The Light Fund welcomes new trustees and confirms 2021 donations

Industry charity The Light Fund has welcomed a number of new trustees to its committee, as it looks forward to a year of more fundraising events as restrictions ease.

The new trustees joining the existing board are:

  • Alexandra Salisbury, senior category manager, toys and games, Viacom CBS Consumer Products
  • Graham Saltmarsh, md, Licensing International UK
  • Helena Mansell-Stopher, founder, Products of Change
  • Mark Schofield, global brand director, Smiffys
  • Nicola Webster, founder, NJ Webster Consulting

“I’m absolutely delighted to welcome our new Light Fund trustees who will bring their expertise and experience from all sides of the licensing community,” Trevor Jones, chairman of The Light Fund told LicensingSource. “All the trustees amaze me with their constant enthusiasm and inventiveness as they give of their time helping to organise events from online auctions to arduous physical challenges.

“The charity is all about licensing folks raising money for worthy causes in fun ways, so with the easing of restrictions we look forward to holding more events this year.”

The first event held in aid of The Light Fund this year will be the Northern Quiz Night on 24 March at Hotel Football in Manchester. More details will be available soon.

Despite 2021 being challenging in terms of fundraising, The Light Fund was able to make donations to a number of charities – Toy Aid (£10,528), Orchid (£5,000), Maggie’s (£5,000), New Life (£5,000), Motor Neurone Disease Association (£5,000), The Brain Tumour Charity (£5,000), MIND (£5,000), Pancreatic Cancer UK (£5,000), Help Musicians (£2,745) and Warrington Wolves Foundation (£2,745).

The donations made to Help Musicians and Warrington Wolves Foundation were made on behalf of the licensing industry in memory of the late Kelvyn Gardner.

Trevor continued: “2021 was a challenge for everyone, so I’m proud to say that, thanks to the hard work of the trustees, supporters and generous donations, The Light Fund has been able to support seven charities with donations this month.

“They are New Life, Orchid Trust, Maggies, MIND, Pancreatic Cancer UK, Motor Neurone Disease Association and The Brain Tumour Charity. A huge thank you to everyone who supported or donated to The Light Fund. I look forward to seeing you at a Light Fund event soon.”
