Licensing agency is working with the charity which has been providing safe and welcoming spaces for men to get together and talk since 2013.
This is Iris has confirmed a collaboration with The Men’s Shed Association, a charity which works to provide safe and welcoming spaces for men to get together and talk.
Originally formed in 2013, there are now more than 500 sheds across the UK, with another 150 due to open fully as soon as it is safe to do so.
As part of Men’s Health Week (14-20 June), sponsor Ronseal is celebrating the work of the charity in a new film which has launched today.
Entitled The Shed, it has been produced by Rumpus Media in partnership with Channel 4. The documentary will be shown across social channels and follows 28 year old Joe as he visits his local Men’s Shed in Camden, North London and talks to other members about his experiences and the struggles he has faced.

“During the lockdown we have been building a number of new friendships with partners from a variety of new areas, looking at how – through licensing – we can come together to develop new, credible lines that help build awareness and all important funds for organisations that work so tirelessly to support and inspire others,” commented Kaye Hunter from This is Iris. “Throughout the past 8 months we have been talking to and safely visiting our local Sheds to learn more about the different groups and why it is so important to them and their local area.
“The Shedders are all ages and from all walks of life. They offer skills and learn new ones, and regularly get involved in projects that benefit their communities.”
Kaye continued: “We’ve also been talking with our amazing licensing partners and have been overwhelmed by their instant offers to support the charity and their unique ideas on how we can develop The Men’s Shed brand.”
Charlie Bethel, chief officer for the UK Men’s Shed Association, added: “UKMSA are delighted to be working with This is Iris to provide as partners, delivering greater capacity for the Men’s Sheds movement. And helping make Men’s Sheds a household name in the United Kingdom.
“This is Iris are bringing a phenomenal level of experience and expertise in order to support our work and the impact of Sheds. Men’s Sheds transform and save lives, together we will transform and save many more lives.”
