Toy Fair 2016 opens its doors

Three-day event set to welcome raft of visitors to London’s Olympia from today.

The UK Toy Fair has officially opened its doors today – and expect to see a lot of new licensed lines unveiled.

Key announcements are expected to be made across various categories, and don’t be surprised if there are some master toy reveals for some new brands.

Official press day is Monday, and events lined up for the visiting media include an appearance by Union J singer and runner up on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, George Shelley.

Dee Anderson will be on the Hornby Hobbies stand (D11) on behalf of her mother and co-writer of the classic Thunderbirds, Sylvia Anderson, while Gibsons (E40) will be offering guests the chance to be drawn as their favourite Mr Men character by George Williams, promoting its line of gift puzzles.

Celebrity chef – Annabel Karmel – will also be on the Casdon stand to help promote the new AK range of children’s baking sets.

In addition, the traditional costume character line-up will take place, while various characters will be walking the aisles throughout the three days – including BBC Worldwide’s Hey Duggee, who will be trying to get as many ‘Duggee hugs’ as possible, and DHX Brands’ Teletubbies to celebrate the launch of the new toys.

Toy Fair 2016 runs from Sunday January 24 to Tuesday January 26 at London’s Olympia.
