University of Oxford looks to build in Japan

Oxford Limited appoints Ingram to further grow brand in the territory.

The University of Oxford brand is eyeing further growth in the Japanese market, appointing Tokyo-based licensing agency Ingram.

The primary focus of Oxford’s Japanese licensing programme will be apparel and fashion accessories, alongside home, gifting and stationery.

“Oxford’s heritage and traditions, as well as its global impact as a leading edge university, gives Ingram plenty of scope to build on our previous success in Japan,” commented Chris Evans, md of Oxford Limited.

“Oxford is an evergreen brand with core values of heritage and excellence which can be expertly translated through design and manufacture to appeal to consumers in key market segments.”

A spokesperson from Ingram added: “The University of Oxford is not only the world’s number one university, but also a quintessential British lifestyle brand.

“We look forward to developing the brand for the Japanese market, with an immediate focus on apparel for specialty stores and other high-end retail channels.”
