Finalists unveiled for MTV’s British Fashion Council collaboration

London Fashion Week September 2020 will showcase the five international students’ catwalk designs via a digital activation.

MTV, in collaboration with the British Fashion Council, River Island and Iceberg have revealed the finalists for the ‘Music Meets Fashion’ competition.

London Fashion Week September will showcase the five international students’ catwalk designs via a digital activation created by MTV and launching on the official LFW Schedule for September 21 at 1.45pm (BST).

Fashion design students from 21 fashion schools selected through the BFC Colleges Council Network in the UK and select international design colleges in the US, Mexico and Australia were invited earlier this year to design a line inspired by MTV that merges music, fashion and sustainability.

Handpicked from hundreds of submissions, the five finalists are Rebecca Cox from University of Leeds, Bew Chan from Manchester Metropolitan University, Lucy Saunders from London’s Kingston University, Rebeca Serrano from Universidad Iberoamericana (IBERO) Mexico City and Alice Michelle from Academy of Arts University San Francisco.

The top five were chosen based on how their line represented sustainability, gender neutrality and size inclusion.

The winner will see their catwalk and commercial designs showcased at London Fashion Week in February 2021, with their commercial collection to be sold by River Island.
