BLE New Exhibitor Focus: Cooneen by Design

We find out why the nightwear and underwear licensee is heading to Olympia.

The Source highlights a selection of the first time exhibitors and newcomers who will be on the show floor at this year’s Brand Licensing Europe.

Today: Cooneen by Design

Can you sum up your company and what you do in one handy paragraph?

Cooneen By Design is a leading supplier of nightwear and underwear in the UK. Our licensing partners include Disney, Lucas, Marvel, Warner Bros, eOne, Mattel, Hasbro, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and many more significant brands. As a specialist in licensed clothing, we are extremely efficient and understand the licensed apparel business better than most. We have an extensive factory base, all approved by our customers, licensors and retail. Our award winning team, are the best in class, from design to delivery and we consistently achieve and beat our delivery and quality targets.

Why did you decide to exhibit at BLE this year? It’s quite unusual for a licensee to take a stand…

In an effort to showcase our business and speak to new customers outside of the UK, where better than to do this at BLE.

What will you be showcasing on your stand (properties, actual product, etc) and what kind of visitors will you be looking to attract (retailers, licensors)?

We are not launching a new brand or property, however, we are launching ourselves into Europe. I see BLE as a ‘one stop shop’ for us to arrange meetings with licensors and retailers operating in Europe and those who are ready for something different from the current mix of suppliers. The UK apparel market works to a very high standard and a very challenging price architecture, this is something new entrants have really struggled with. However, this puts us in a very strong position when targeting new customers outside the UK. We will also showcase product on our stand to illustrate our design capabilities.

What are you most looking forward to about BLE?

Apart from the parties? The usual reunion of new and old friends in licensing and retail. Also, introducing our new European manager to the mix and mayhem and seeing what he makes of it.

What would you most like to achieve by exhibiting at BLE this year?

We already have several interesting appointments, so I would say progression and new business.

Brand Licensing Europe runs from October 11-13 at London’s Olympia. Head to the official website – www.brandlicensing.eu – to find out more and to register to attend.
