Popeye brought to life on apparel by de•Kryptic

New collection of AR apparel and accessories debuts at Las Vegas show.

Following on from Popeye’s 90th anniversary celebration kick off, King Features Syndicate has teamed with augmented reality fashion brand, de•Kryptic, to develop a line of Popeye apparel and accessories.

Popeye is the first licensed character to partner with the unique fashion house and the line – which includes augmented tees and backpacks – will be unveiled during the Agenda fashion trade show in Las Vegas.

de•Kryptic combines contemporary graphics and fashion style with technology to create its unique products. The clothing and accessories come to life with streaming content, 3D animations and rich sound effects which accompany the graphics.

Augmented reality merchandise viewer, Boosted Art, gives fans the ability to share the experiences across social platforms.

“de•Kryptic is proud to announce our very first licensing partnership with, Popeye, one of the worlds most iconic cartoon characters,” said de•Kryptic co-owner and creative director, Christopher Fermoselle. “As this is his 90th anniversary year, timing couldn’t be better to introduce Popeye’s fans to an entirely new brand experience, something that’s never been seen before.”

Jarred Goro, senior director of domestic licensing at King Features, added: “We are excited to announce our new partnership with de•Kryptic. The synergy of our classic Popeye brand with cutting-edge wearable augmented reality is truly an innovative new venture.”
