Science Museum signs up Fashion UK

Licensee becomes official partner for branded apparel for the museum.

The Science Museum has teamed up with Fashion UK, with the licensee becoming the official partner for branded apparel.

The deal covers daywear, nightwear, underwear and socks for boys and girls.

Range designs will focus on some of the museum’s most popular themes including space, flight and robots.

In addition, Fashion UK will be looking at incorporating technology into its products, adding an extra dimension to the range and reflecting the unique nature of the museum.

“We’re really excited by the possibilities on product innovation that our partnership with the Science Museum will bring. We have witnessed the great success museum endorsed products have received and love the educational angle that we can offer to our customers,” said Laura Clowes, licensing manager at Fashion UK.

“We are delighted to have the Science Museum among our portfolio and look forward to creating some ‘out of this world’ product together.”

Zuzi Wojciechowska, senior account manager, brand licensing at the Science Museum Group, added: “It’s been a really phenomenal year for the Science Museum. On top of the continued support from licensees and retailers alike we have signed with great new partner Fashion UK.

“The brand is the UK’s top property in scientific toys, and we’re really excited to take advantage of this popularity with other categories.”

In addition to the new signing, a brace of existing licensees have further strengthened their Science Museum offering.

Wow Stuff has expanded into homeware gifting and 3D puzzles, in addition to its successful technology and activity toys. Its hero product for 2016 is the Virtual Reality Viewer.

Meanwhile, Clementoni’s range has grown within the robotics and engineering areas. New branded products for this year include the programmable Cyber Robot and the Mechanics Lab.
