Danilo unveils biggest range of licensed calendars ever for 2022

Licensee’s calendar and diary portfolio is larger than ever before incorporating innovative formats and properties in music, gaming, celebrity, TV, film, anime and sports.

Danilo’s calendar and diary portfolio is larger than ever before for 2022, with the licensee incorporating innovative formats with properties across music, gaming, celebrity, TV, film, anime and sports.

The last few years has seen the licensee investing in product, increasing its range of formats in what is an established market and re-engaging with customers and retailers.

Always keen to offer a product range which fits the latest trends and hottest properties, Danilo is adding even more titles into new and emerging genres this year.

These include anime, which has seen a significant surge in popularity in the UK in recent years. Danilo has introduced a number of anime titles to its portfolio over the past few years including Dragonball Z, Naruto and Tokyo Ghoul, and is further swelling the roster this year with Hunter X Hunter and Attack on Titan among others.

In addition, as more people move into the video game space and existing fans spend more time gaming, Danilo has increased the number of gaming titles in its brand portfolio to engage fans both old and new. These additions include more recent brands such as Fortnite, Cyberpunk, Assassin’s Creed and Animal Crossing, as well as established evergreen titles such as Pokémon, Super Mario and Minecraft. On top of this, there are retro titles like Dungeons & Dragons and Magic the Gathering.

Through the increased popularity of streaming services, the licensee is not only seeing some key new cult shows coming through – such as Stranger Things and Bridgerton – but it has also seen a revival of previous sitcoms such as Friends, which has continued to perform well for its calendar and diary range.

The success of Disney+ has also meant continued interest in classic evergreen movie and TV titles from the archives, alongside new material created specifically for the platform, such as The Mandalorian. The company is also seeing a resurgence for classic animated shows like The Simpsons thanks to the inclusion of Fox on the platform.

In relation to formats, Danilo has been busy expanding its innovative product range to help give it a USP in the category.

Its Deluxe A3 Calendar is printed on premium paper with a resealable envelope. A key USP of the product is that the pages are perforated so each image can be removed easily and framed as a piece of wall art. New titles coming for 2022 will include Billie Eilish, BTS and Disney Quotes.

The collector’s gift box set comes with a wall calendar, diary and branded pen within a keepsake box. Danilo’s football gift box sets also have a light sensor in the lids which, when activated, plays the club’s anthem. New for 2022 will include Arsenal and Chelsea FC musical gift box sets, Batman, BBC Earth, Peaky Blinders, Rick and Morty, Star Wars The Mandalorian, Stranger Things and Van Gogh Museum.

Meanwhile, the company’s My First Calendar is designed to encourage young children to learn about the days of the week, months of the year, weather and seasons. The calendars are non-dated so they can be used all year-round. Danilo is adding Winnie the Pooh and Mickey and Friends to the range this year.

The company has also enjoyed success with its range of advent calendars for the last two years with designs including Liverpool FC, The Gruffalo’s Child, Frozen and The Snowman and the Snowdog. This year it will be looking to add a number of new additions.

The advent calendars feature pop up scenery with cardboard characters and stickers placed behind each door. The main focus of the advent are the magnetic characters which can be placed on the base’s moving mechanism so it appears as though they are gliding on ice to music.

On top of the existing formats, Danilo will also be launching a number of new formats this year. This includes a Perpetual Diary which is non-dated and more in the style of a journal rather than a standard diary. There will be a Disney classic diary and a Friends diary available, too.

The Baby’s First Keepsake Calendar, meanwhile, looks to help new parents celebrate their baby’s first year including space to write in special milestones There will be a design crested for Disney’s classic look, as well as Elmer the Patchwork Elephant.

Danilo has also seen an increasing amount of focus on sustainability from retailers and end consumers.

The licensee says that sustainability is one of its main strategic pillars and it has made a number of changes over the last few years

With its products, the desk block calendars were redesigned to be completely plastic free and fully recyclable. The deluxe and postcard desk easel calendars are designed to be repurposed by customers and Danilo’s advent and My First Calendars can be reused again and again. It is currently working hard to reduce plastics even further and encourage recycling of its products going forward.

In addition, Danilo has increased communication with its customers, adding clear recycling labels to its calendars and diaries.

One of the company’s favourite initiatives has been its tree planting partnership with Ecologi where, for every £5 spent on its website, it plants a tree. Danilo has now planted over 23,000 trees since it first started in September.
