Tulipop joins forces with Hot Topic

Exclusive US retail launch planned for Icelandic brand.

Quirky Icelandic brand Tulipop has secured an exclusive US retail launch in Hot Topic.

To celebrate the partnership, Tulipop created a special street art project in Hot Topic’s home town, Los Angeles.

Tulipop’s head illustrator and co-founder, Signý Kolbeinsdóttir, teamed up with the Venice Art Walls to bring the colourful and quirky world of Tulipop island to life on the California beach.

Running alongside the art wall is a nationwide ‘TulipopUSA’ competition offering two lucky Americans the chance to fly to Tulipop’s home in Iceland by sharing their own Tulipop art or photos on social media.

The launch in Hot Topic follows Tulipop’s recent signing of key US licensees across several categories, joining existing partner Toynami (collectables and plush).

Hot Topic now stocks accessories from Loungefly and apparel from Mighty Fine. New Tulipop ranges, including stationery from Pyramid, socks from Mad Dog and bedding from Jay Franco, will follow next year.  The new licensees were brokered by Tulipop’s US agents Sage Licensing Group alongside Playlife Company.

Signý Kolbeinsdóttir said: “After building Tulipop in Iceland for the last seven years and opening our first Tulipop shop in Reykjavík, we knew we wanted to bring the world of Tulipop to the United States.

“For us, Hot Topic’s cool style and established presence in the American market made them our ideal retail partner. We are thrilled to have Tulipop’s quirky, colourful characters popping up in shops across the country.”
