News extra: More licensing news from this week

Including Beano Studios teaming with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

The Source rounds up more news from the licensing industry across the globe from the week.

Beano Studios has teamed up with animal charity Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in a bespoke comic strip. The bespoke storyline – which sees Gnasher disappear – runs across two issues from August 29 to September 5 and has been created to announce the new partnership between Beano Studios and the charity. The comic reveals an offer in the Beanotown newspaper of free sausages for every dog that goes to their local vet to get microchipped. Gnasher is already microchipped and is intent on destroying the adverts – he goes on the run in a bid to keep the meaty treats to himself, leading Dennis on a mission to find his missing best friend.

Character World has launched a Pusheen duvet exclusively with Next. The bedding collection comprises reversible print duvet sets in single and double sizes.

eOne continues to expand the presence of preschool property PJ Masks across Asia, with the news that the show will be heading to free to air channel EBS in Korea. eOne will also be building on the increased awareness with the expansion of the licensing programme, which launched in 2017 by master toy partner Gaia. A new toy range capitalising on the new content will follow the broadcast launch of series two on EBS, while publishing partner Daewon will introduce a new line of story books from October. Licensees will also soon be appointed in the apparel, homewares and stationery categories.

IG Design Group will be making the most of the parties around Super Bowl Sunday, Thanksgiving and July 4 with its acquisition of US-based Impact Innovations. The total consideration of the deal was £56.6 million. In addition, in conjunction with the acquisition, the company has announced a placing to raise up to £50 million before expenses.

Studio 100 Media and m4e are continuing with the international roll out for preschool series, Wissper, partnering with India-based entertainment conglomerate Viacom18 Media. India’s leading Hindi entertainment channel has secured all rights for TV, digital and home entertainment, as well as for licensing and merchandising for its subcontinent including Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The show will premiere on Nick Jr in India in the autumn.
