The Licensing Awards 2022 Special: Winners share their joy

Winners at The Licensing Awards 2022 have been sharing their joy with LicensingSource.net.

Amscan picked up Best Licensed Dress-up or Partyware for its Baby Shark Party, Balloon and Costume Range, with group licensing director EMEA, Mel Beer, commenting: “We are delighted to be recognised with this prestigious licensing award, as it is a reflection of all the team’s efforts and contribution demonstrating our strength as the one stop party supplier and retailer.”

Best Licensed Written, Listening or Learning Range went to LEGO Duplo Audio Cards from Yoto, a product which was described as a “true collaboration” by AMEET Publishing’s partnership director, Dan Shepherd.

“This award is a recognition of the creativity, imagination and true collaboration between YOTO, AMEET, colleagues in the LEGO Publishing team and the LEGO DUPLO product team in creating these fantastic audio cards, which kids and parents love,” Dan commented.

Ben Drury, ceo of Yoto, added: “We are thrilled to be adding to the growing list of content Awards that our team here at Yoto work so hard to create. We were delighted to get the chance to work with industry’s leaders AMEET Publishing and LEGO DUPLO on this series, and we celebrate this esteemed recognition with them.”

Mad Beauty was recognised for its Winnie the Pooh Bath and Body Collection, triumphing in Best Licensed Giftware, Home Decor, Tableware or Housewares Range.

Trevor Cash, owner and director, told us: “Our motto is that we are Serious About Making Cosmetics fun and we really feel that our Winnie the Pooh range incorporates all of our values. We are proud of our background in professional beauty and we try to bring this quality into the products that we make, combined with lovely design to create an impulse gift opportunity.

“The Pooh range is part of our ‘Never too old range’ designed to appeal to all ages from teen up. Winning an award from our peers is a genuine thrill, totally unexpected and really exciting; a brilliant way for our wonderful team to be recognised for their hard work. A heartfelt thank you to those who voted for us especially among so many other worthy nominees.”

The team at Fashion UK was “thrilled and excited” to win Best Licensed Preschool Apparel or Accessories Range for the Peppa Pig #PlantWithPeppa range for Character.com.

“We are extremely proud to be recognised by the industry for our hard work and creativity; thank you to everyone who was involved and congratulations to all the other winners,” the team commented.

Meanwhile, it was a good night for Bluey – not only did it pick up Best Preschool Licensed Property, but Moose Toys also won Best Licensed Toys or Games Range for its Bluey Play-sets.

Lucy Wynn-Jones, head of licensing Europe, commented: “We were absolutely delighted to win the Best Licensed Toy or Games Range award for our Bluey range at the amazing Licensing Awards event this week. And of course equally delighted that the industry voted Bluey as Preschool licence of the year.”

Moving onto the retailers, and another company enjoying that winning feeling was Character.com, with a brace of wins.

“What a fantastic evening celebrating everyone in the licensing industry with some very well deserved winners,” said Karen Hewitt, co-founder and buying director. “We were thrilled to come away with two trophies and it means so much to the team at Character.com to see the hard work and effort they put in to everything we do recognised at such a prestigious event.”

Meanwhile, HMV was recognised as Best Retailer of Adult Licensed Products, with head of pop culture, Gary Williamson, commenting: “Firstly what a great evening and event; fantastic to get the industry together. It was great to be nominated in the first place and to actually win was an amazing feeling. Both myself, HMV and my pop culture team are extremely honoured and proud to get this award.

“The work we have done to bring key licences to life in our stores and the rollout of our new store concepts being acknowledged by the industry is an amazing feeling. I must also thank the licensors and suppliers for their ongoing support, which has been fantastic.”
