News extra: More licensing news from this week

Including global celebrations group Amscan International rebranding as Wonder.

Source rounds up more news from the licensing industry across the globe from the week.

Global celebrations group Amscan International has rebranded as Wonder and announced a revenue target of £500m by 2026. The rebrand is a key element of the group’s continued implementation of its global strategic growth plan. It follows the announcement in September by the business that it had acquired Sweden-based online retailer Party King to further expand into the Nordics. Explaining the reasons for the rebrand, Wonder chief executive Joe Hennigan said: “Our old group name didn’t reflect the dynamic, global, multi-channel, multi-product group of leading brands and businesses we are today.” You can read more on sister site, PartyWorldwide.net, by clicking here.

Rainbow Designs has added a trio of heritage licences from children’s literature to its portfolio for 2023 – Maisy, Bagpuss and Giraffes Can’t Dance.

Rubies Masquerade has appointed Justin McGiffin as head of licensing to manage and develop its portfolio. Justin brings with him a wealth of experience having held previous roles at The Walt Disney Company, Jakks Pacific and, most recently, Rovio Entertainment. He will oversee EMEA licensing responsibility across all categories, while leading and managing the licensing team within Rubies.

Mattel has launched its own digital collectables marketplace on Mattel Creations, the company’s collector and direct to consumer platform. Series 4 of the Hot Wheels NFT Garage – due for release on 15 December – will be the first offering to launch.

Endemol Shine North America‘s svp Tamaya Petteway has added oversight of the studio’s licensing team for a second time, while industry veteran Chris Lucero has joined the Banijay-owned studio as executive director of licensing partnerships.
