Shopkins brand stars in the toy aisles

Property notches up third biggest toy sales in UK for 2016 to date.

The collectable Shopkins property is proving a success across a raft of categories, lead by the toy sector, where it was beaten by only Star Wars in March.

The Moose Toys brand – which is handled by Bulldog Licensing – recorded the UK’s second highest toy sales in March, according to NPD.

In addition to this, it now boasts the UK’s third biggest toy sales (behind Star Wars and LEGO Star Wars) for 2016 to date.

Now the biggest girls’ brand in the UK toy sector, the success being enjoyed by Flair is also being replicated across other categories for Shopkins.

Bulldog has secured deals with licensees including Gemma, Fashion UK, Aykroyds TDP, Spearmark, Topps, VMC, Blueprint, Character World, Danilo, DJ Murphy, Winning Moves, Icon Live and Whitehouse Leisure.

“Shopkins is a phenomenon, so I’m not at all surprised by this strong toy performance,” said Bulldog md Rob Corney.

“We’re also seeing very strong sales in soft lines, publishing, accessories and more. It’s showing incredible growth across all areas and, judging by the amazing developments we’ve still to reveal, the best is yet to come.”
