Sony Pictures names EmojiMovie licensing agents

12 agents confirmed for hotly tipped film including Rocket Licensing in the UK and Eire.

Sony Pictures Consumer Products has shared the details of the 12 agents it has brought on board to develop bespoke licensing programmes for EmojiMovie: Express Yourself.

Rocket Licensing will be handling the UK and Eire, building a programme for the film based on the global emoji phenomenon.

The movie is due for release in August 2017 and will bring to life a cast of 250 unique emojis, including some new characters.

The licensing programme will target a core demographic of six to ten year olds, with a secondary audience of teens and young women.

Key product categories will include toys, apparel and accessories, publishing, homewares, arts and crafts, back to school, giftware and novelty.

Joining Rocket Licensing in the agent line-up are: 20too Licensing (Middle East), Biplano (France, Italy, Spain, Portugal), Bradford Licensing (India), Click (China, South East Asia, South Korea), J&M Brands (Benelux), Katalyst (Canada), Lizenzwerft (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), Megalicense (Russia), Merchantwise (Australia, New Zealand), TLC (Japan) and Tycoon (Latin America).

Jamie Stevens, evp worldwide consumer products at Sony Pictures, said: “We are committed to building support around our properties with more output than ever.

“With EmojiMovie: Express Yourself being a top priority, it’s vital that we have an agent network of local experts that understands the cultural nuances of each territory.

“With their forensic knowledge of regional markets and solid retail relationships, together we can maximise the tremendous commercial potential of this incredible licensing opportunity.”
