Licensed names star in BAFTA Children’s shortlist

Clangers, Go Jetters, Teletubbies, Hey Duggee among those nominated in 2016 awards.

The nominations have been announced for the 2016 BAFTA Children’s Awards, with a number of high profile licensed names making the shortlist.

Clangers, Go Jetters, Hey Duggee and Sarah & Duck have all been nominated in the Preschool Animation category.

Meanwhile, Teletubbies and Something Special go up against Andy’s Prehistoric Adventures and Topsy and Tim in the Preschool Live Action category.

The Feature Film category will be contested by The Good Dinosaur, The Jungle Book, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Zootropolis.

LEGO has two nominations in the Game category – with both LEGO Dimensions and LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens being shortlisted.

In addition, Magic Light’s Stick Man and Aardman’s The Farmer’s Llamas have been named in the Animation category, alongside The Amazing World of Gumball.

Kids Industries and eOne get a nod in the Interactive Adapted category for the PJ Masks official website, while the International category includes well-known names such as SpongeBob Squarepants and Peter Rabbit.

Elsewhere, Sixteen South – the team behind Lily’s Driftwood Bay – has bagged a nomination in the Independent Production Company of the Year category.

The BAFTA Kids’ Vote also opened on October 18, with children aged seven to 14 getting the chance to cast their vote for their favourite film, TV show and game at www.baftakids.org until November 18.

The 2016 BAFTA Children’s Awards will be held at the Roundhouse, London on Sunday November 20 and will be hosted by British actor, writer and comedian, Doc Brown.
