New Moomin TV show being planned for 2019

IndieGoGo campaign to raise $200,000 towards development now up and running.

A new Moomin TV animation is in the works, with an IndieGoGo campaign set up to help raise funds to go towards the development.

The new series – being created by Gutsy Animations – will use state of the art CGI technology combined with more traditional hand-drawn techniques.

Each episode is based on an original storyline or incident from the novels and comic strips.

The new series is due to premiere in 2019, starting with 13 episodes.

It is being directed by Oscar winner Steve Box (Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit) and produced by BAFTA award winner John Woolley, who spent a number of years at Aardman Studios.

Emmy winning and BAFTA nominated writing partners, Nick Ostler and Mark Huckerby (Peter Rabbit, Danger Mouse, Shaun the Sheep), are writing the series, while Marika Makaroff is executive producer and creative director.

The IndieGoGo campaign is looking to raise $200,000 to go towards the visual development costs of the production. This includes the creation of a unique 2D/3D animation technique, character design and rigging.

As well as the opportunity to be part of the production, Moomin fans will receive exclusive merchandise and once in a lifetime experiences.
