Stanfords enters the licensing arena

Iconic mapmaker will make its debut at Brand Licensing Europe as it unveils the Edward Stanford Signature Logo brand.

Edward Stanford will be taking its collection of historically unique cartography to Brand Licensing Europe this month.

The company has launched a special Edward Stanford Signature Logo brand in response to customer demand for mapping and other travel-related products. These will bear images and branding from the iconic company – which has 162 years of history as a supplier of maps and guides to explorers, diplomats, royalty and general travellers – emphasising values of authenticity, originality and expertise.

The Royal Geographical Society will be acting as licensing agent for the Edward Stanford Cartographic Collection of over 800 maps, which is now being digitised to bring them to market. The company itself will be handling interest for Edward Stanford Signature Logo, with support from Keith Pashley from The Keith Pashley Project.

Stanfords has already rebranded its Travel Writing Classics using the Edward Stanford Signature Logo, and has also recently launched a range of notebooks and stationery to much success.

Tony Maher, MD of Edward Stanford, explained: “This experience has now led us to bring the brand to the licensing market, as we believe that there is a significant opportunity to extend the use of the Signature Logo, the archive and other commissioned images to a wider range of products.

“We are very much looking forward to exhibiting at Brand Licensing Europe for the first time, and to filling our diaries with meetings with potential licensees in advance.”
