Amazon’s global Prime Day sales could reach $1bn

Number of licensed brands featured in retailer’s major summer sales event.

A number of licensed brands are starring in this year’s Amazon Prime Day – which kicked off yesterday evening (July 10) and runs for 30 straight hours.

Such is the power of the summer event, that JP Morgan has forecast that Amazon’s global sales during Prime Day could approach $1 billion.

The retailer’s shares rose 1.8% on Wall Street on Monday ahead of the event beginning.

New deals start as often as every five minutes, with members being able to shop for deals organised by more than 20 of the ‘most shopped for’ themes.

In addition, Prime members can head online at the top of every hour for live deal reveals and tips to get the most out of the event.

A look at amazon.co.uk this morning (July 11) saw a number of licences featured.

Deals in the Kids Corner saw brands including: Star Wars, Barbie, Pokémon, Winnie the Pooh, Peppa Pig, Fireman Sam, Paddington, The Gruffalo, Thomas & Friends, Cars, Bing and Octonauts among others featured across a variety of products.

Numerous brands are also included among the DVD and video games deals on the site.

“Our teams have been working for months to source exciting and interesting deals, and our fulfilment centers are loaded with products, our operations associates are ready and our transportation partners around the world are waiting for the first Prime Day order,” said Greg Greeley, vp, Amazon Prime.

“This Prime Day, our Prime members will find hundreds of thousands of deals on everything they’re into – from beauty fans to bookworms and gamers to gardeners.”
