Larkshead Media picks up Numberblocks

Alphablocks appoints media services company to manage UK licensing for CBeebies show.

Larkshead Media has been appointed to handle the UK licensing for Alphablocks’ Cbeebies show, Numberblocks.

The preschool show uses humour, animation, characters and engaging storylines to teach children under the age of six how to count, add and understand how numbers work.

Initial target categories for the property will include toys, jigsaws, games, cards, publishing and apparel. Partnerships and promotions with educational groups are also seen as key opportunities.

Larkshead Media will be officially launching the licensing campaign at Brand Licensing Europe in October at the Blue Zoo stand (F14).

Joe Elliot, the creator of Numberblocks at Blue Zoo Animation Studio, said: “We are delighted to be working with Larkshead Media, a respected organisation with an excellent reputation in realising the potential of a wide variety of children’s properties.

“It certainly understands the potential of Numberblocks, a show that enjoys a strong following and has enormous long-term licensing potential across a wide range of categories.”

Clare Piggott, director of licensing and merchandising, Larkshead Media, added: “In my many years working with children’s properties I’ve found very few that bring together learning and fun as delightfully as Numberblocks.

“Its potential, in entertainment, education and licensed output, is significant. I’m looking forward to developing Numberblocks into a long-term franchise that helps support children and parents learning together across many product categories.”

In addition to the licensing programme, Numberblocks resources will also be brought into UK classrooms to aid the primary school teaching of maths from this autumn, thanks to a partnership with The National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics.
