Forbidden Planet enjoying retro property trend

The retailer’s Harrison Roberts on why 1980’s properties are big right now.

Forbidden Planet is continuing to enjoy success from the current trend for nostalgia properties.

Speaking to Licensing Source Book as part of the judging of the product categories for this year’s Licensing Awards, merchandising development assistant Harrison Roberts – pictured (left) with colleague Sarah Sullivan – said that 1980’s nostalgia is very popular right now.

He commented: “One trend is to go back to the older retro properties, especially those that tap into the nostalgia of the 80s, such as classic PlayStation – think neon, think punk rebellion.”

Harrison continued: “On the contemporary rebellion front, it’s Rick and Morty all the way.”
