Rebellion makes move into films and TV

First projects will be a Judge Dredd TV show and Rogue Trooper movie.

It is already a video games, comic book and book publisher, and now Rebellion is making the move into films and TV.

The company has launched a $100m studio in Didcot, Oxford – which was previously a printing press for the Daily Mail – with the site also being used as a location and creating up to 500 new jobs.

The first projects will be the hotly tipped Judge Dredd TV series – Judge Dredd: Mega-City One – and a Rogue Trooper film, Variety reports. Both feature characters from British comic book series, 2000 AD.

Rebellion will also make the studio available to third parties to further boost the entertainment industry in the UK.

Jason Kingsley, co-founder of Rebellion, told Variety: “I think we are pretty good at creating content in all different types, screen content and interactive games and all sorts of stuff, and I’m hoping we’re going to be equally good at making TV and film.”
