Peter Rabbit offers up tasty afternoon tea treats

Penguin Ventures teams with Le Méridien Piccadilly Hotel on afternoon tea concept.

Penguin Ventures has collaborated with Le Méridien Piccadilly Hotel to launch an official Peter Rabbit Afternoon Tea, in a deal brokered by Silvergate Media (the global licensing agent for Peter Rabbit).

The afternoon tea concept and creative was developed by Penguin Ventures on behalf of Frederick Warne, Beatrix Potter’s original publisher, in collaboration with the hotel.

Taking inspiration from the original Beatrix Potter Tale, savoury delights include Mr. McGregor’s Garden wrapping vegetables referenced during Peter’s garden scramble such as carrots, radishes and pea shoots inside a mini baguette, as well as the Caught In A Twist smoked salmon and sun-dried tomato pinwheel.

Pastries include the Flower-Pot Hideout, a chamomile mousse inside an edible chocolate pot, plus an eye catching Magnificent Mushroom of strawberry ganache with a crunchy meringue stem, as well as Every Bunny’s Favourite, a delicious carrot cake. A selection of fresh scones, jams and clotted cream come served alongside the tea.

There is also a mini version of the tea presented inside a wooden vegetable patch box for children.

To mark the launch, Harry Judd was special guest at the Peter Rabbit Springtime Celebration hosted by Penguin Ventures for influencers and their children.

Held at the Terrace restaurant yesterday (April 2), Harry read A Spring Surprise – the new title from Puffin – to visiting children who also enjoyed dressing up and face painting.

“It has been a pleasure to work in partnership with Le Méridien Piccadilly, and the team there have created an absolutely beautiful and delicious offering,” said Izzy Richardson, head of brand at Penguin Ventures. “The Peter Rabbit Afternoon Tea is so clearly inspired by Beatrix Potter’s best-loved Tale – guests are in for a real treat.”

James Olivier, general manager at Le Méridien Piccadilly, added: “Creating a dedicated Afternoon Tea in celebration of the iconic British classic Tale of Peter Rabbit seemed like a perfect fit for our family guests.

“As the story is so rich in adventure and colour, our expert pastry team could really have fun with creating a nostalgic experience for the whole family to enjoy.”

When arriving at the hotel, children can start their adventure at the ‘kids only’ check in where they will be given an array of Peter Rabbit goodies including a purse, drawstring bag and a bespoke Le Méridien Piccadilly Peter Rabbit book for bedtime reading, as well as the chance to take part in a dedicated Peter Rabbit trail across the hotel.
