Stephen Gould to take on English Channel challenge

Sutikki exec will captain six-person relay team swimming in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning (July 10), when most people will be tucked up in their beds, Sutikki’s head of territory UK and EMEA, Stephen Gould, will be beginning his latest challenge.

Stephen is to captain a six-person relay team to swim the English Channel in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

The team will begin the challenge from Samphire Hoe or Shakespeare Beach at Dover at 4.30am on Wednesday.

As well as the cold water – which could reach as low as 6.0C in parts – a big concern is jellyfish, plus the circa 1,000 ships a day that sail through the busiest shipping channel in the world.

Plus, as if that wasn’t challenge enough, in the middle of the Channel – called the ‘Separation Zone’ – those ships are allowed to dump their bilge…

The team of six will be aboard a Dutch cruiser called Gallivant – the ‘same’ boat which accompanied The Light Fund row from London to Paris earlier this year.

If you would like to support Stephen and the team in their quest, you can visit the JustGiving links here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/beargould or https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tri50.

You can also check out highlights from the team’s two-hour qualifying swim at Durley Chine on Saturday May 26, in water temperature of 13.0C by clicking here.

You will also be able to track the swim ‘live’ from the Channel Swimming & Pilots Federation website here: http://cspf.co.uk/tracking/235018589.
