Sales surge for Little Princess handwashing picture book

Sales increase by over 2,000% from February to March, says publisher Andersen Press.

The Little Princess character has been helping to encourage children into good hygiene practices during the coronavirus outbreak, with Andersen Press reporting soaring sales of picture book, I Don’t Want to Wash My Hands.

There has been “unprecedented demand” for the Tony Ross book, with Andersen Press saying that sales have increased over 2,000% from February to March.

The book follows the Little Princess as she is asked to wash her hands repeatedly, after playing outside, playing with her dog, sneezing and going on her potty. When she asks “why?” she is told by the Maid it’s “because of germs and nasties”.

The book will be the first reading to take place as part of Andersen Press’ new partnership with Seven Stories, The National Centre for Children’s Books. An exclusive virtual storytime will be broadcast each week on the Seven Stories’ Facebook page while the museum is temporarily closed.
