Born Licensing stars in Financial Times’ FT1000 listing

The annual listing highlights Europe’s fastest growing companies.

Born Licensing – which specialises in licensing characters, clips and entertainment IP for ad campaigns – features in the Financial Times’ FT1000, an annual list of Europe’s fastest growing companies.

The company appears at number 58 in the listing, alongside the likes of Octopus Energy and Chilly’s Bottles.

Born Licensing saw a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) % of 168.2% between 2016 and 2019. With an Absolute Growth Rate of 1828.4%, Born Licensing ranks 15th in the UK and 2nd in the Advertising category.

“We are super proud to be listed amongst Europe’s most innovative and fastest growing companies,” commented David Born, founder and director of Born Licensing. “This achievement reflects not only the hard work from the Born Licensing team, but the ongoing support we get from the rights holders we represent and the licensing community.”

Past ad campaigns facilitated by the company include licensing Masters of the Universe characters, Skeletor and He-Man, for MoneySuperMarket’s ‘Epic’ campaigns with Mother London; licensing Donatello (TMNT), Robocop and Bumblebee (Transformers) for Direct Line’s ‘We’re On It’ campaign with Saatchi & Saatchi; and licensing the Rocky franchise for Facebook’s ‘Ready to Rock’ Super Bowl commercial with Wieden+Kennedy.

With 15 years of experience in the licensing industry, Born Licensing has also recently conducted extensive research into the power of licensing fictional characters in advertising campaigns. Its white paper – A Case For Characters: How Fictional Characters Are Under-Utilised In Advertising – is the first research of its kind and is set for release on Monday 8 March and will be available on Born Licensing’s website.
