eBay teams with Disney to raise funds for Make-A-Wish UK

To mark the arrival of new animated comedy adventure, Ron’s Gone Wrong, eBay is encouraging the nation to sell its pre-loved tech and donate a percentage of sales to Make-A-Wish.

The Walt Disney Company UK and eBay have joined forces on the initiative – eBaby has seen one pre-loved tech item sold every two seconds on the platform and almost eight million items sold as pre-loved tech items spike in sales.

For every sale of second-hand tech this October, sellers can choose to donate to Make-A-Wish, and eBay for Charity will match donations £1 for £1 up to £15,000.

“We’re proud to be teaming up with 20th Century Studios for the launch of Ron’s Gone Wrong to support Make-A-Wish UK,” commented Emma Grant, head of pre-loved at eBay. “eBay is a great place to sell your pre-loved tech to make some extra cash but this month when you do, opt to donate anything from 10-100% of your sale to Make-A-Wish through our eBay for Charity platform.

“It is super easy, and eBay will match your donation £1 for £1 throughout October up to £15,000.”

According to eBay, selling just five household items could make up to £500.

Average selling prices for the most common unused tech at home include £238 for a smartphone, £101 for a speaker, £20 for headphones, £76 for a robotic hoover and £57 for a smart speaker.

Ron’s Gone Wrong, which hit cinemas earlier this month, is the story of Barney, a socially awkward middle schooler, and Ron, his new walking, talking, digitally-connected device which is supposed to be his ‘Best Friend out of the Box’, although he appears to suffer from a number of hilarious malfunctions.
