London Fog and The National Gallery celebrate 100 years

With this year marking the 100th year of heritage apparel brand, London Fog, the company has teamed up with The National Gallery.

The new collaboration looks to spotlight leading French Impressionist Claude Monet (1840-1926), whose paintings, among others, came to define the movement.

The collection – which includes men’s, women’s and children’s outerwear – features five Monet masterpieces. Each product is inspired by and lined with images of one of the stunning artworks. The hues and tones of each painting are incorporated throughout the design with Monet’s signature delicately added to tie the collection together.

Standout pieces include a women’s long white wool wrap robe coat lined with the vibrant greens and blues of The Water-Lily Pond (1899), while children can wrap up warm in style with puffer jackets in soft pink and navy blue featuring details from Water-Lilies, Setting Sun (about 1907) and Snow Scene at Argenteuil (1875).

To complete the collection the classic London Fog trench coat has been reinvented for the 100-year celebrations. Featuring Water-Lilies (after 1916) and Irises about (1914-1917), these trenches offer a subtle hint of colour and history for men, women and children.

“We are very proud to be launching our very first outwear range with such an established brand as London Fog,” commented Judith Mather, b2b and brand licensing director at The National Gallery. “Together we have been able to showcase our paintings beautifully, within the contemporary design of each piece, to a cross-generational fashion audience. The range for men, women and children will be available at multiple retailers across Europe.”

Daisy Laramy-Binks, md at Iconix Europe, continued: “We are delighted to see two brands as well aligned as London Fog and the National Gallery come together to create such an eye-catching collection that so thoroughly encapsulates the ethos of both the renowned institution and the London Fog brand.

“The level of detail-orientation of the range is indicative of the quality standard that one would expect of both partners, and we are excited to bring such well-loved and iconic artworks to the fashion consumer.”
