Boost for Trolls brand as film sequel dated

Universal reveals Trolls 2 will hit cinemas on April 10, 2020.

Trolls was named as one to watch by a number of retailers and licensees last year, so the announcement of a sequel for the DreamWorks’ movie should come as a major boost to the licensing programme.

Universal has confirmed that Trolls 2 will be released on April 10, 2020.

Both Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick will reprise their roles as Branch and Poppy respectively.

Trolls – which launched late last year – has grossed some $339 million worldwide.

It bagged an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song for Can’t Stop the Feeling, sung by Justin – who also delighted the crowd at DreamWorks’ presentation at Licensing Expo last summer with a surprise appearance.

The comprehensive licensing programme covers a raft of categories, including successful toy and apparel lines.
