Avengers: Infinity War, Star Wars shine at D23 Expo

Exclusive teaser and behind the scenes trailers, plus poster art revealed at Disney’s fan expo.

Disney made a number of big reveals at last weekend’s D23 fan expo, including an exclusive teaser trailer for the hotly tipped Avengers: Infinity War and new poster art for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

A huge appearance from the cast of Avengers: Infinity War closed Disney’s live action film presentation. The likes of Josh Brolin (who plays Thanos), Karen Gillan, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle and Elizabeth Olsen were all introduced, before Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Holland also took to the stage.

Some of the Avengers themselves – including Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth – also made an appearance before the teaser trailer was aired.

It is thought the trailer will be released to the public during San Diego Comic-Con later this week.

Meanwhile, there was plenty of Star Wars news. Although there were no further details on the plot of The Last Jedi, Disney did reveal a series of new posters focusing on all the main characters, including Carrie Fisher as General Organa.

Forthcoming multiplayer game, Star Wars: Battlefront II, was also confirmed for a November release and will feature a fleshed out single player mode story, plus new worlds to fight in.

Disney also unveiled a short film about what has been going on behind the scenes during the filming of The Last Jedi. You can check it out below.

Elsewhere, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was confirmed as a new addition to Disney’s theme parks. The new area will apparently resemble a planet in the Star Wars Universe, blending characters and objects from the franchise into the immersive world.

A Star Wars-themed hotel was also mooted.

Away from the Star Wars franchise, it was also confirmed that Toy Story Land would open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in summer 2018.

The next Disney-Pixar outing will be Coco, which will launch at cinemas in November with Olaf’s Frozen Adventure preceding it.

Finally, following on from the success of Beauty and the Beast earlier this year, live action versions of Dumbo, Aladdin (directed by Guy Ritchie) and The Lion King are being planned.
