Damian Treece takes on new Rebellion role

Popular exec joins in newly created role of brand licensing manager.

Independent game developer and comic book publisher, Rebellion is expanding its licensing activity – with Damian Treece taking on the newly created role of brand licensing manager.

Damian – who joins the company from Penguin Random House where he was brand manager, licensing and IP – will work across the full gamut of Rebellion’s licensed business operations.

His main focus will be on the licensing and brand development of the group owned IP across publishing, video games and a burgeoning roster of heritage comic IP.

Rebellion owns a roster of brands that spans many genres and demographics; from the in-house developed Sniper Elite game series, to classic comic book footballer Roy of the Rovers and British comic 2000 AD and its array of characters including Rogue Trooper, Strontium Dog and Judge Dredd.

Ben Smith, head of books and comic book publishing at Rebellion, said:  “I am delighted to have Damian join us at such an exciting time in Rebellion’s history.

“As the holders of one of the richest IP catalogues in the UK, having someone of Damian’s calibre join us to develop our licensing strategy is thrilling, and I can’t wait for people to see the amazing projects we have to come.”

Damian (pictured) added: “I couldn’t be joining Rebellion at a more exciting time. There is great ambition throughout the business, as exemplified by the recent announcement regarding the development of the Judge Dredd: Mega-City One TV project.

“And although that project is tremendously exciting for the Judge Dredd brand, growing up on a healthy diet of Roy of the Rovers and other British comics, it’s fantastic to also be getting the opportinty to work with some of the riches in the Treasury of British Comics collection.”

Damian continued: “We’re excited about what the future holds in store and we’ll be announcing a raft of new projects imminently.”
