Puffin boosts licensing and non fiction team

Publishing director Amanda Punter adds responsibility to her existing remit.

Puffin has made a number of new hires and promotions to strengthen its licensing and non fiction team.

Publishing director Amanda Punter (pictured left) has assumed responsibility for licensed and non fiction publishing for Puffin. This is alongside her responsibilities for Puffin fiction, picture books, partnerships and illustrated non fiction.

Meanwhile, Ruth Knowles (pictured right) has also taken on an expanded role in heading up a newly created Puffin fiction, non fiction and licensing team, reporting to Amanda.

In addition to this, Jamie Coleman has joined the team as editorial director for licensing and non fiction from Pac Macmillan. He will be commissioning new properties and titles, as well as helping to develop and implement the team’s non fiction and licensing strategy.

Finally, Emil Fortune joined as commissioning editor earlier this year from Egmont, where he had been part of the UK Star Wars publishing team. He will manage the Doctor Who children’s publishing programme among others, as well as working with Jamie to seek out new licensed opportunities within existing brands and in the wider entertainment market.

Amanda commented: “At Puffin, our aim is to publish stories for everyone and I’m excited about the new literary storytelling opportunities that enduring entertainment franchises and characters such as Dr Who and DC Superheroes afford us, as well as more recent properties like Stranger Things, and their reach in terms of creating new readers.”
