Hasbro makes major Power Rangers reveals

New collections plus Beast Morphers on-air date unveiled at Toy Fair New York.

Hasbro has used Toy Fair New York to make a number of major reveals for the Power Rangers brand.

The company’s showroom at the event – which kicked off on February 16 at the Jacob K Javits Convention Center and runs until Tuesday February 19 – has been displaying a number of new toy lines.

These include the Power Rangers Lightning collection (pictured) which features six-inch figures from two decades of the franchise. The first wave – due for a spring release – includes Mighty Morphin White Ranger, Lord Zedd, S.P.D Shadow Ranger and Dino Charge Red Ranger, while a Beast Morphers Red Ranger figure will arrive in the autumn.

Speaking of Beast Morphers, and Hasbro confirmed the new TV series will premiere on Nickelodeon in the US on Saturday March 2.

Set in the future, a secret agency combines a newly discovered substance called Morph-X with animal DNA to create the Power Rangers Beast Morphers team. The Rangers must fight off an evil sentient computer virus bent on taking over the source of all ranger power, the Morphin Grid.

“We are extremely thrilled to have Power Rangers under the Hasbro family and to celebrate over two decades of this iconic brand,” said Simon Waters, svp and general manager of Hasbro’s Power Rangers franchise. “We’re eager to bring exciting new products to fans this year and introduce all-new Power Rangers entertainment and content from Hasbro with the Power Rangers Beast Morphers series on Nickelodeon.

“From the captivating storyline to the action-packed scenes, this new series is sure to entertain Power Rangers fans and new audiences of all ages.”

New Beast Morphers products on display in New York included Dual and Triple Converting Zord assortments (with some creating the Beast-X Megazord) and Playskool Heroes Red Ranger and Dragon Thunderzord figure.

Finally, a Power Rangers stage show is due to tour across the US, after Hasbro struck a deal with Kilburn Live. Tour dates and cities will be announced later this year.

Mark Manuel, ceo of Kilburn Live, commented: “Our goal is to create a memorable Power Rangers experience the whole family will enjoy.”
